Rear view camera

Not sure if I should be in Class A forum or here.

Just bought a new Thor Axis.

It has a rear view camera that uses the radio display as a monitor. It is in the center between seats and somewhat low. Not real easy to see.

Wondering if I can disconnect the camera from the radio and attach it to a display that I would mount in front of steering wheel and to left.

I have used this setup for ten years and works well. Do not have to take my eyes off of the road to study the display and I know exactly what is happening behind me.

Has anyone tried this arrangement?

Thanks

Nick

Just picked up Thor Axis today. There is a large blind spot behind me. Is the rear camera adjustable? Right now, it points at ground behind me. Can I adjust that? Dealer says no.

The ground behind me is EXACTLY where I want to see. If I get close enough to something backing up, it will appear on the screen.
  • Ain't that what you want to see ? That's what I see when the car isn't back there. I sure want to see if there is a kid on a bicycle right behind me.

I have to look up to see my monitor, but not a problem when I'm goin forward down the hiway. I don't find it very interesting looking at where I used to be.

  • Yes you can
Your only difficulty will be access to the wiring
You can get adapters and/or ext cable if needed, for the video signal from the camera
