Remote Temp Sensor for Pet Safety

Thanks to whoever mentioned this device on an earlier thread: La Crosse Alerts D111.101.E1.WGB Wireless Monitor System Set with Dry Probe. Amazon link HERE.

After 10+ years of RVing with pets we had an incident earlier this year where post breakers tripped while we were away. Luckily, neighbors knew we had pets and called park management who fixed it quick. That thread had some other ideas, but this thing is awesome and affordable.

It connects using wifi AND A ROUTER. I can look at the temps on my smart phone at anytime. It will send an email/SMS alert if a temp goes above a level I set. It alerts if the center doesn't get a signal in a specified interval. Hard to beat for $80 IMHO.

EDIT: I may be misleading here. You have to have access to the router to make it work, not just wifi. I'm using a repeater in the RV that has a router LINK .

I apologize for saying wifi only. Their site isn't very clear on that. In my case, I had the router so it works great. If you don't have access to the router, it's useless.
  • Another solution is "Freeze Alarm" It will connect to an XLink bluetooth gateway box, which you connect to an unused bluetooth capable cell. The cell phone will then call you whenever the temps go above or below whatever whatever temps you configure, or if the power goes off.

We've used this for years to monitor our home in the winter when we travel, in case the heat or power goes off. Since we don't have a landline anymore, the XLink makes the Freeze Alarm work with the old cell phone.

You can call the cell phone at anytime to check the temps.
  • Also look at piper will give temp etc and you can look at them and talk to them. Turn on lights etc.
  • Glad you like it.
My three have been running for almost three years now. Occasionally I have to reset the base station when changing batteries though.

Thanks for the link. I was looking at the pictures and it says something about alerts included - Enhanced 1 year, Basic 4 years. Is there a subscription service you need to buy separately?

Free 1st year; $12/year for the following 4 years.

  • JANLIZ: I updated it to mention a router so don't want to mislead. I'll PM you. Sorry.
  • I was just thinking about that for our little 3.8lb girl. Thanks for the link. SUBSCRIBING!
