Removing th ASK Toolbar?

Follow this guide.....It looks daunting, but it is really not all that hard. Just take it one step at a time.

Did you recently update JAVA? It comes as an option if you don't uncheck it to install. Nonetheless, ASK is considered a browser hijack by some, not just a toolbar.

If you still cannot uninstall it, you can try doing a System Restore to an earlier date. Or download and run this program which does not have to be installed AdwCleaner. Run a Scan then do a Clean.

Well, it does ASK you, if you watch very carefully and don't blink. I've seen it packaged with several reputable(?) programs. That's one of the reasons to always do a "Custom" install: that stuff will show up and you can deselect it.

when downloading some programs and updates look carefully before clicking DOWNLOAD or OK. many times, in small print, you'll be asked to also download something else and the OK box for that will be pre-checked. if you're not looking for it you may not see it.

What are you guys doing? I have never had a program that I installed install anything else. I also have never had a virus or malware.:h

All browser toolbars are there to monitor what you do on the Internet and pass it on to the mother ship to allow marketing to you. They should be avoided as others have pointed out by carefully watching the options on all programs you install. Plus they add a layer of processing that slows down the Internet experience.

Of course, the browsers themselves know what you do but that's a bigger issue and one that has both good and bad implications.
