The DW informed me one of the speakers on the exterior of the RV is rattling while audio is playing. I assume they are a Jensen brand speaker that matches the stereo unit inside.I priced the Jensen RV speakers and they are really inexpensive. So, the question is: Should I buy the inexpensive speakers and replace them every few years (potentially)?orDo I look for a better quality set of outside speakers?I am not an audiophile and do not have any amp or subwoofer needs. Pull the old speaker out, measure it then go to Crutchfield or Amazon and find a marine grade speakerto replace it. Marine grade speakers hold up better to moisture and should last longer.

A good quality speaker, particularly a marine speaker should last for years. Crutchfield is excellent. Another source is rocktheboatmarinestereo.com.Jensen is pretty much the bottom of the barrel as far as "name brands" go.

Get a set of portable blue tooth speakers. Those mounted outside an RV will always be tinny and get weathered effected....21st Century solution.

X2 on marine grade. I see you are fairly new on here so hold on for the posts about you disturbing the peace and quiet with outside speakers and you better change your name as Harley’s are loud and not appropriate for camping (the noise police) which includes generators or even some children.

If your speakers are wired differently (one is +/- and the other is -/+) then they will be running out-of-phase and as a result, sound terrible. All speakers must be wired in-phase with each other from the source output. In fact, everything in the entire audio chain must always be wired in-phase. All +'s to +'s and -'s to -'s.

And you can get waterproof spacers, so hole size doesn't really matter.

Yeah. But with that being said, I don't think they put anything like Jensen speakers in; actually I think they're worse. Check Ebay. Crutchfield is quality stuff, but at top retail prices.

I do like the separate rear enclosure the speaker had as well. I purchased a new set of Magnadynes for $19.99. So, if they go another 5 years, that is money well spent. Plus, they emit a nice enough sound for the girls I date.

Yeah, I dont even care to fix it. We just use portable bluetooth speakers off phone. Sounds better than any camper stereo and I can take it to the beach or wherever.

Only difference with marine grade speakers is the coating on the wires. All speakers except the cheapest of the cheap have poly cones, and they are waterproof. Dont pay extra just because it says "marine speaker". The regular speakers will be fine unless you camp in the ocean.

Go to wally world and buy some Pioneer or similar speakers for 39.99 or something close. . I assume they are 5 1/4" speakers, most I've seen in and outside of campers are that size.
