We have occasionally had the same experience with the routing on our RV 760 LMT. I have learned to look at the map view to check whether the routing is logical before driving.
This isn't the worst of it. In North Platte NE I was set as "RV" and looking for the big train yard. It routed me through residential neighborhoods, lots of turns, and low-hanging trees - a nightmare. It would have been so much easier if the dang thing had routed me around all that.
