I have yet to find/use a Garmin that will let me save a custom route and then follow it, even with inputting waypoints. Your problem is not specific to the 760lmt. I had that one and also dezl, same issue. My solution is to make sure I view the map on my computer before I drive it. I ignore the GPS recommendations and eventually it will catch up.
