We are not newbies to camping in trailers---been doing it for many years. Many years WITHOUT a television. And, as they say, time flies when you're having fun and now we are older and would enjoy us...

No you could not get all 38 channels with a batwing antenna. Even a powerful household roof antenna could not do that under normal circumstances. Best I can do with the batwing is to get channels down to about a NM of 2 or 3 db (5th column from the left) (sometimes more sometimes less depending on local conditions). Any local interference or obstructions (including buildings, trees, hills etc) between you and the transmitting towers would reduce that further. But you should easily be able to get 56.1 and 13.1 (plus any of their sub channels if your antenna is pointed in the right direction) but I find VHF channels below 14 to sometimes be finicky even if the NM is "good".
