And what makes you think he was referring to you, since another Steve posted first? (This is why quoting is a good thing.)
My bet is that he was referring to Seattle Steve as he has Steve right in his user name.
As for the second sentence, never had it happen in nearly 3 years of using Android. Before that iPhone for 5 years. I don't really care what brand people buy. I simply use what suits me--and that happens to be Android for my phone but macs for my computers (and an iPad tablet).

This is what Steve meant by:
"All you'll get here are posts from people with self esteem issues insisting you buy the same thing they did so they will feel more validated in their decision. "

I also did not insist he buy the same as me. He asked for opinions and having had both Android and Iphones I gave my opinion. - magicbusExplorer II

Steve, I beg to differ. They aren't both "the same." Wife has Iphone 6plus and I have Samsung S5 so I actually know the differences. I would say that if you like an open source operating type system then go to the android, otherwise go with the iphone.

To me Android is easier to use. The Iphone does not have nearly as strong of an antenna. I can get a signal and wifes cannot. You really need to go play with each one and decide.

I agree in that they are different. My wife has an Iphone I can't pry out of her hands. She just upgraded to the 6. I switched to the Android Galaxy a few years back and just upgraded to a Samsung S6. Although they do the same stuff, they really navigate in two different ways almost like Windows and Apple OS do the same things but differently. My suggestion is to go into a store that has both - like Costco or one of the carriers - and play with both for a while and see what you feel comfortable with.

If I had a Grandfathered Unlimited plan I would get and Android phone so I could use the Foxfi app to connect all my laptops, Roku, Smart TV and tablets to share that unlimited data plan and do away with the MIFI.
It's what I do now.
Of course yo'll have to pay full price for the phone to keep the unlimited data plan.
X2 but I'd look into the S5. Prices on it have come down lots. - lynndiwagonExplorerSteve, I beg to differ. They aren't both "the same." Besides, if you get one it will boost my self esteem and validate my decision, :) - Ranger_SmithExplorerWe have had both. We prefer the Iphones. We use a bunch of apps and it seems that when we had the android phones every app we installed had advertisements and pop ups. Got rid of them and went back to Iphone and couldn't be happier. No more ads or pop ups in the middle of an ap.
