The problem is that 99% of 'tech' stories are reported by people who have zero technical ability or understanding and they go after sensationalism rather than real true to life facts discussed with a sensible understanding of what is likely to happen.
Just because someone "could" does not mean that someone "will".
I used to work in the Defense Industry and when Computers and CRT displays came along. some bright spark in a multi billion dollar government test facility determined that Russian Spys could use sophisticated listening and scanning devices to read the text displayed on the screen of the CRT from outside of the building - for a while it caused major disruption as they discussed using aluminum foil etc to block the signals. Eventually common sense prevailed!
