Samsung Android tablets can download from Sansung, Google Play, Slide-ME, GetJar and some other providers.

There is, however, an advantage to Google Play store as your primary source.
That advantage is this: Google Play will auto-update them for you unless you disable that feature (app by app in most cases or all of them at one time).

The others you have to check back from time to time for updates.
  • Love the tablet.....plus you can read books in Nook and Kindle format with appropriate apps.
  • I want the tablet to use on the road as it is smaller than my netbook and easer to use when we stop to eat or do laundry were their is WiFi
I just want to check the weather, news, maps and general info, I don't do music or movies.
On big trips I have my netbook with S&T with GPS that works great and to work on my photos.
I know that the tablet won't do what the computer does, it's an extra tool.
  • all DEPENDS on what you want to do with it

i use it a lot..many hours per day..starting first thing in the morning for my Gmail and these forums

i use google maps and i am constantly using 'google' to look things up
all from my 'old' Moto Xoom tablet with 'jellybean' update
  • I was going to buy a tablet but found that they are really, really limited in their abilities. It's more like using a large phone than it is like using a small computer.
There are so many things that an Android based device can't do that the only tablet sized device that would work for me was something that actually used a computer based operating system such as the Windows Surface with Win8.
Just be sure you check it all out. I bought the tablet and it only took 1 day to realize I had made a terrible mistake. I returned it to Sam's Club a couple of days later for a full refund.
  • I was told while in the Verizon store yesterday that on Black Friday many small tablets (7") will be at prices near to nothing. Who knows. I am thinking about buying a Nexus (Google) 7" tablet just because I want one and they are so cheap. 225 bucks for a tablet with a really beautiful screen.

All Android tablets and cell phones can use the Google play store to get aps.
  • Thank you 1492, you are always so helpful.
Tablets are new to me and have a lot to learn, just want to use it for weather, news, maps and general info, I don't do music or movies.
