A full array dish is better because the larger antenna provides a better signal to the receiver. That may/may not be a factor for you but it is for us.

-Would you expect one to be cheaper than the other? I would expect that it could be expensive depending upon what you choose.
Any DIY person could install a RF Mogul dish. But be advised that it's SWiM only and needs a SWiM capable receiver or converter.
There are some areas where SD locals are not transmitted and HD sat equipment is required.
