Satellite Director

For those using both SD and DIRECTV, what satellite numbers do you search for use in West if that makes a difference

  • 101. Yes, there are at least a couple of 101 satellites but as far as Satellite Director is concerned, you just need to point to 101 no matter what other designation is shown. 101 is designated that way as the satellite is located along the 101 longitude, 22,300 miles above the Earth. Point to 101 and you will find a DirecTV satellite if you set the elevation correctly.

    Directv 4S.
  • I think maybe I need to phrase question a little better...Satellite Director is a phone app to use to help determine line of site for your satellite and once in a while I pull into a site and it maybe marginal for a satellite.
I then will try to use Sat. Director to determine best parking location so that I can determine if my winegard will be able to see.
However, when determining which Directv sat to find there will be several listed for each...ie there maybe 2 or 3 sat. for 101...and to use the Director we have to check a sat.
My question thus is which ones?

Ours comes in on 101,110 and 119. This is the house. MH has auto Winegard dish and switches to different birds depending on station selected.
It will depend on your package.

There is no longer any programming on 110 and only a few markets local network programming and some foreign language programming on 119. All that is necessary for DirecTV SD programming is the 101 satellite (with a couple mentioned exceptions).
The HD reception comes from 99 and 103 and requires a special LNB.
  • Peaking sat 101 for Directv is what counts for SD and for that matter HD too. Once peaked and skew is set properly, HD and locals come right in without issue for those with capable satellite dishes.

Mine (in MH) uses the same on Winegard, but several 101 for instance.

  • DirecTV SD programming comes from the 101 satellite no matter where you are located.
DirecTV HD comes from 99 and 103, also, no matter where you are.
