Inside of a closed cabinet is questionable if the remote will work. Also there has to be air circulation around the receiver or it will shut down from over heating. Mine is inside of a cabinet and I open the door at night when watching TV. I also installed a 12V computer fan blowing on the receiver and that eliminated the over heating problem.
The best picture is going to be with the HDMI cable to the TV. All of the other ports are for any other type if installations, connecting surround sound, etc
