If you only have one outside connection, it likely will not work for satellite as it probably goes thru the antenna amplifier/cable select switch.
Mine was like that. BUT. The internal coax cable first went from the outside connection to an inside dual coax wall plate with a short coax jumper between the two connectors before continuing on to the switch. I could remove the short jumper and connect another coax from that wall plate to my sat receiver box and it worked fine. You might look to see if you have a similar dual coax wall plate somewhere.
Ultimately I added a new outside connector dedicated for satellite so as to not have to mess with the jumper.
