ScanDisk Clip+ will not play M4b converted to MP3

I've never heard of 2GB MP3 audio files? You need to find out exactly what format and the encode settings of the MP3 file? A free app for doing so on PC is MediaInfo. Enables right-click on any media file.

I would recommend re-encoding the files to MP3 using the Freeware Any Video Converter (AVC).

what is the running time on the original m4b file, 15hrs seems awful long
but then i don't have any audio books
the 320kps a second seems high for reading aloud, reducing that to 128
would greatly reduce the file size

I use this free software to convert M4b to MP3. It will do either m4a or m4b.

Something else you may run into: do not have long file names.
I have 5 Sandisk Clip Sports and use them every day or Audio books, Radio shows, and Podcasts.

As others have noted, 2GB mp3 files are way too big. Something either went wrong in the conversion or the settings to convert were not set to result in smaller files. I always split audio files for ebooks - just to make it easier to manage. If for whatever reason you lose your place (or bookmark) you are not scanning through hours of audio to get back to where you were.

I use a Sandisk Clip + and have never had a problem playing an mp3 - but I have never had an mp3 file that big.

I re-converted the file with 64 kbps and all works well. File is only 400Mb each. All is OK . . . :B

2Gig for a MP3 file that is 15 HRS long AND at 320 kbps IS MOST LIKELY DAMAGED, I would have expected closer to 3 gig.

The problem most likely is the 320 kbps, that player may or may not support it or the conversion software was unable to split the file into smaller chunks.

OP needs to select 128 kbps during the conversion (provided the software they are using supports reducing the bit rate during conversion).

128 kbps bit rate typically yields 10 hrs per 1 gig of space so 15 hour long MP3 at 128 kbps should be about 1.5 gig in size.

WM recorder at one time used to throw in a free file converter with their trial software.. Not sure if they still do.. That is what I use for a lot of my media conversions, not sure if their converter supports a M4b file though.
