To send an attachment (photo or otherwise) just compose your email and click "Add attachment". Select the folder where you stored them, then select the photo you want to send.
Your scanner will have a selection for destination - make sure it says "My Pictures" or the like. Also, you may have scanned your photo and saved it as a .tif instead of .jpg. Check for that option.
Use search to find where your scanned photos were saved e.g. search for all .jpgs created today.
