If the drive is a SATA drive plug it into a SATA port. You may have different ports that use a different controller. Look in your manual, and see what ports go to what controller, and then enable that controller in the Bios. You can also change whether it is AHCI, SATA, PATA, etc... more than likely, so read your manual, and if you don't understand something Google the setting, and find out what it means.
