Setting up sat dish

Hi, we want to be able to use our DISH box from our spare room in our RV. We just looked and the sat dish we used to use with our other MH is from Direct TV the box says "integrated triple LNB".
Are we going to be able to use this sat dish from direct TV for our DISH box?
Thanks
Linda H

  • The old direct tv round 18"/single LNB dish will work on either Dish or Direct, if you want SD programming only. Don't say it won't work, because I did it.
  • What DISH "box" (receiver) do you want to use, what rv do you have, and what do you use the rv for?

DISH receivers will only work with DISH antennas. Some can be modified, but probably not cost effective. If you camp in s tree type of environment, you'd probably be better off with a portable antenna. If you use rv parks, a roof mounted antenna like the Wineguard Trav'ler would work best for you.

    Hope this helps

  • Nope, Dish and Direct use different equipment, at the very least you would need to replace the LNB with a dish compatible one, but honestly probably cheaper to find a whole used dish network dish on your local craigslist, people take them off their houses all the time, not very hard to find, heck I have 3 extra Dish and 1 extra DirectTV dishes in my garage, if you were closer they would be yours for the taking lol.

EDIT: My advice above is if you were using a normal residential type dish, those are a dime a dozen. I should note if you are using one of the special portable dishes, some of those are convertible, and those would usually be worth converting because they are expensive to buy.
