Shockwave Plugin Ques?

Frequently my computer locks up and a screen pops up stating -Shockwave Flash may be busy or has stopped responding. One of the options is to click Stop plugin on the pop up and then all goes back to normal.

If someone could tell me how to cure this ailment i would appreciate it.
