I am lucky enough to have a Mobley on the original plan. I want to be very careful with the Mobley, since it wouldn't be possible to fix or replace it if it broke.I am sometimes parked for extended periods of time, with shore power. Should I get a different, used, hotspot and put the Mobley SIM in it, at those times? If so, something with a larger range would be useful. Other than that I don't think I need any bells and whistles. I don't know anything about hot spots, so if this is a good idea, I'm wondering if any of you folks can recommend specific models. Or tell me which ones to avoid :-)

I have had my Mobley SIM in an AT&T Netgear router ever since someone posted that you could. No issues!

There are many adapters available to use the Mobley outside the vehicle. You can get ones that work off of USB (5v to 12v)or a 120v converted to 12v.Just do a search on Amazon or other sites for Mobley power adapter. That way you don't have to remove it.If you just want to use another device a NETGEAR 4G LTE Modem works with the sim card found in the Mobley. I have used it without problems.

I put my Mobley in a Unite pro 781 over a year ago that I bought off amazon for about a hundred bucks. The Mobley died over a year ago and it’s in the bottom of a drawer. The unite pro or similar models are far superior to the little Mobley. I follow several wireless tech sites and know of no one who has been “ kicked off the plan” for not using the Mobley. As of now there is 0 danger of that. While it’s still working replace it with a better modem and keep it just in case, but chances are that won’t happen. I would think moving the sim back and forth would be a hassle and unneeded. Once you have the better modem with antenna connection if needed and many more WiFi devices that can be connected , and a built in battery to take with you wherever you won’t go back.

I do already have an AC adapter for the Mobley, which works great. I was just thinking in terms of preserving the life of the Mobley body in case I need it in the futur.I appreciate folks letting me know which hotspot they use and how well it works for them!

Those people that put the Mobley SIM in a traditional hotspot quite a while ago are OK. About a year ago, the SIMs that were still in the Mobleys got locked by AT&T. There's a way around it, but you can't just take the SIM out of the Mobley now and put it in a hotspot like you could before (unless you've unlocked it).

note: The first thing you must do is to get the two PUK code(s) from AT&T.

I only use my Mobley when I travel, otherwise I have the SIM in a cell modem linked to a router at home, but if I recall correctly you can’t use PUK codes from the Mobley because it doesn’t have an user interface for that. You need to move the SIM to a device that is a bit smarter. If I’m wrong I’m sure someone will correct me, but I think most of us who are on the original plan switched to a new device long ago and have simply forgotten the steps!

Hmmm... I did search the advanced tab also. That's where I found the administrator password reset. But I have checked every item on every menu and there is nothing that says Sim

IIRC there is an advance ? settings page in the menus somewhere

maybe under the broadband settings ?

there is also an administrator tab, under advanced, which asks me for a current login and a new login if I want to reset it...

Yes, I'm sure I'm on the mobley, but pausing my VPN worked!

New problem. There is nothing called mobile broadband in the settings. The closest I can find is Network > APN > ATT broadband. That allows me to set a username and password, although there are not any preset ones. I'm not sure if I should do it, though, since I don't know if it is the thing you folks are referring to...

Are you sure you're connected to the Mobley and not to another WiFi source?

About not being able to access your Mobley... May not apply, but when I am on my work VPN I can’t access my cell modem (my Mobley replacement) or my router. Are you by chance using a VPN?
