I figure the machines I currently have running Win 7 and Win 8.1 will be ready to be replaced (or already replaced) by the time those OSes stop being supported so I'm not worried about that.
I wouldn't go so far as to say the tech press loves Win 10, there's an awful lot of negative press out there regarding privacy issues and such.
