Shut Off A Computer Key?

I have always hated the Caps Lock key now I don't have to worry.

You can also disable any key in Windows by adding a registry entry mapping that particular key to nothing. This would completely disable Cap Locks. I suspect that is what most of these utilities are doing.

I've had the same issue and have been using this simple utility for several years. I changed "Caps Lock" to "CTRL". No more problem.

If it is that annoying, just pop the key off. Take an old fashioned flat head screwdriver and gently pry at the edge of the key. To put the key back on, just press it down onto the stud from which it came.

If you are typing in Word, you can also highlight all the text and "Change case" of the text to Sentence Case. On the "Home" tab, in the Font section, left click the icon that has a capital 'A' with lower case 'a' beside it. You can then select the case you want.

If you've done hordes of typing in another program, it might be quickest to copy/paste it into Word, then change case, then copy/paste it back into the original document.

Well Disable keys will disable any given key, and Smart Keys will remap any single key, but I need to disable a combination key (CTRL-Q) Anyone got a solution for that? Thanks in advance.

I are a hunt & pecker to/also & have survived just perty good alright (25 yrs as an educator & a damn good one). Besides, who had time for those wussy classes in high school anyway. lol

I need to program a key to do the degree symbol. Yes, I know what the alt keys are.

I have that problem too but do not mind re-typing since I can hit close to 100WPM when I want to.

In the old days they slipped a plastic block under the key and it worked, alas, today that is not always easy to do.

I need to block CTRL-Q in FireFox (QUIT) since I hit it when I want CTRL-W far too many times (Close Tab). Will check out the links above.. Have sharp keys on another machine, did not think it did that muck for me though.

Update on the problem

I tried the two websites mentioned here. One website did not work. The other asked for a free download and I did so. I watched very carefully to make sure I did not download anything else. In spite of that, it highjacked my home page and replaced it with Bing search. I spent hours building that page. I got it back but I sure hate when that happens.

I used the suggestion by Tom_M and changed the key response so that hitting the "shift" key shuts the "Cap lock" off. Thanks much.
