Signal breakup when antenna fully raised

I get a good signal when batwing is lowered, but when fully raised signal breaks up. verified 12 volts and replaced f connectors for good connections. while checking I noticed if I bumped or shook the antenna, signal would breakup. Shaking the antenna wire did not cause same reaction. Anyone have similar experience with batwing?

  • I have found on some occasions, the antenna works better if not fully extended. And yes, sometimes it works better on the roof. I've never figured out why, I'm just guessing the signal is coming from a specific direction, and the antenna is catching it just right. No problem if it's up, down, or sideways??? if the television is working, I don't care how the antenna is positioned.

The roof of my camper is arched. When the antenna is fully extended, it's actually leaning. I don't know if that has anything to do it with, but I have found, if not completely up, but the arm is bent slightly, almost in "W" angle position (inside of that "W" angle from the roof), it seems to actually work better.
  • This can happen when the incoming signal is too strong. Try turning the antenna away from the signal somewhat and see if it improves. I am in Jacksonville, FL now and I get the best signal on the NBC station with the antenna stowed. I could also use the Sensar Pro to turn down the gain a bit but stowing works just fine.
  • Do you know exactly which direction the channel that you are testing is from the antenna and have it pointed that way?
