SL3 SWM Slimeline single line triple LNB failed?

Lost channel 229 which comes from stat 99. No signal on 99 however SATs 101 and 103 are OK. In sat setup sat 99 has red boxes and X's. Changed coax, restarted receivers, switched which receiver is on port one of swm splitter and re-power inserter. Looks like LNB has failed on sat 99 only. Will take it home and swap it with one on SB.

Any other thoughts? Chris

The SL3 LNB contains 3 separate LNB's (2 KA band and one KU band) so it's certainly possible that one of them failed. If you are absolutely certain that the signal from the 99 satellite is blocked then the first step is to install a new LNB. I was really surprised the first time I could get 101 and 103 but not 99. Moving the coach ever so slightly cleared the 99 from behind a tree.

I believe the fact that 99 is X'ed out is the issue. Dish has been on this same post for three or four years now. If LNB works on home system then the trees have grown. I may get the tripod out today and try moving the dish.

If you look at the angle of the LNB below the dish face are the SATs at a equal angle off the top of the dish? If that is the case it is looking over the top of all the trees.

    DISH or Directv?

    DirecTV.

I have been setting up the setup both up north in the summer in Arizona in the winter for several years and am well versed in dish alignment.

Because of the scales built into the slimeline mount, I find alignment easier than my old SD dish.

I have two full blown SWM setups with multiple DVR's and whole home. One in SB and another in the trailer. DirecTV actually came to Arizona RV park and did the HD and SWM installation in the trailer.

I have the monthly maintenance on the account, so I will take the LNB home and test it on the other system and get warranty service if needed.

Just someone might point out something I missed. It is set up for #17 SWM dish.

  • I suspect because of my location considerable East of your position I use satellites 99,101,and 110. If I get a reading of 95 or more on 101 the other satellites will be aligned also. I use a Steren
Sky Tracker Satellite Finder between the LNB and the receiver.

Generally when they fail they totally fail. Go thru setup again. My guess the dish has moved. Last winter I had to reset my roof top dish maybe three times.

I do not think this is a dish aiming issue, as repeat dish setup shows 99 X'ed out. As the LNB powers up all three parts of the three sat LNB should be active, then you align to the three SATs. 99 will not show a signal on the receivers signal meters because it is not active in the LNB.

I am blue in the face from re-aligning. Chris
