Smartphone or Stand Alone GPS?

Got my smartphones and have almost figured out how to use them. I used Google Maps to guide me from my home to another part of the neighborhood about 3 miles away.

Works great, but chewed up 15mb of data for just that little trip. Would I be better off getting a standalone GPS; they don't have data charges, do they? Course, I can add data to my Verizon plan for not too much money.

No way would you use 15MB, thanks to navigating a 3 mile trip. I might point out that with Google Maps and Co-Pilot can do the job even with data turned off provided you set-up the trip while you are using say WiFi at home. Anyway, take the time to figure this stuff out...
  • Go to a stand alone GPS. Use the smart phone as baxkup for the odd times when you need directions in a hurry.
  • There are apps that don't require sucking up data to use. What kind of smart phone do you have. I use Navigon on my Iphone. It don't suck data!!!
