I also have the yellow one (thanks, greenrvgreen, for recommending it back when I was in the research stage). I bought the least expensive year-round plan and I keep the map tracking turned off because there is a fee for every track point. I have sent a test e-mail to my home, and what arrived included the GPS coordinates from which it was sent. No, it is not a navigator, but it does give your location to those who need it.
BTW, the inReach can send either e-mail or SMS (text to phone) messages.
My "quick" message for needing RV roadside service: "Need AAA. Am safe, no injuries. Separate text msg includes details, location. (AAA RV service phone # here) (my AAA member # here) Tiger Chevy RV (license plate # here)"
This is set up in my account ahead of time to minimize the chance for typing errors. Once my contact person acknowledges, I can send a message saying what type of help I need. Each message, according to my tests, includes the GPS data.
I am pleased with this product.
