Stereo Upgrade Recommendation - 2004 Holiday Rambler Scepter

I bought a few head units from Sonic and they have good prices. EsoxLucius, that unit is a double DIN and will not fit without major dash modifications. It also doesn't have (unless I am blind) HD.

If this is a standard Pioneer indash car stereo, you DO NOT have "5.1 audio".

What you have is TWO SPEAKER PAIR outputs (Front Right an Left, Rear Right and left) with front and rear getting the same stereo signal AND a mono subwoofer speaker output.. That is not the same as "5.1 audio".

To get TRUE 5.1 audio as in THEATER SURROUND SOUND 5.1 the unit would HAVE to have a surround sound decoder.. This is not typically found in car stereos. Car stereo manufacturers simply can not afford to pay for the licensing to use a surround decoder and in a car/auto usage surround sound is not useful.

There are plenty of car stereos available now days with front/rear outputs PLUS mono subwoofer output.. Typically they will have the front/rear speakers with internal amp and the subwoofer output will need a external amp.. Most car stereos also now days include line level front/rear outputs also if you want to use a more powerful external amp setup..

You may want to call Crutchfield and see if a radio with those requirement exists. I don't know if you will find all those features in a single DIN unit.
