Straight Talk Mobile Hotspot

Thanks for all the replies, folks. I'll probably lean towards the unit that utilizes Verizon, since I already use their service on my phone and am happy with it. BTW, what type of battery is used in the Straight Talk mobile hotspot?

My Straight Talk hotspot is a 4G LTE and it is fast!

The battery is a replaceable lithium-ion.

The new style hotspot is a Z288L (I'd ask for a Verizon).

Well, I've ordered one through Walmart. One last question. About how long will the battery last?

That's going to depend on your usage, and on the cellular signal strength.

When I was using mine near a town with good signal, and just checking e-mail, it lasted days.

When I was out in the sticks, I found it was dying within a day, again just checking email.

Trying to watch a movie, or upload lots of pictures, it died on me within a few hours.

The battery is generic and easily replaced. I resorted to just leaving it plugged in all the time - this will destroy the battery, but I don't really care, a new one is cheap on ebay if I need another battery.

Try and see if you can't just take the battery out and leave it plugged in. I do this at home on the wall charger and mobile with a USB ciggy plug adapter or 10,000 Ma external battery. The USB on the computer will run it too.

Good suggestion, I'll give it a shot. I have it velcro'd inside a cabinet that I ran some 12v outlets into, plugged into usb car charger.

So, I'm assuming the battery is rechargeable? And what size is it (AA, AAA)? Lithium ion batteries aren't cheap. If I have to replace one every day or so, I won't be a happy camper.

They are rechargeable like your cell phone. Also like your cell phone the battery eventually have to be replaced. Plugging in either all the time will constantly charge the battery and shorten its life span. A bad battery may just not hold a charge or even blow up like a balloon. That's why I take the batteries out when plugged in long term.

We just bought the Verizon version for my mom so she can have internet without having obligations. It is 4G LTE and it is fast and works great. I have been using straighttalk phones for about 3 years now and just love them. I just bought myself a Galaxy S6 a week ago and now have access to the 4G LTE service as well. My old phone would only get 3G service.

I have a question myself here. What exactly it the speed supposed to be for 3G and 4G LTE?
