Straight talk zte z288l hotspot experience

My Wal-Mart had the ZTE Z289L (P4P sim) at the Black Friday price of $49 so it appears they offered both the 288 and 289 for the special. The one I purchased is the 289L.

I also ordered one online so I'll see which one shows up. If it is the 288 on the Verizon network I'd be tempted to keep it also and run with both just to improve my network availability chances (advice from Technomadia) since I also plan to work remotely while traveling. I just have a strong concern that the Verizon one is on the more limited pre-pay network.

As far as Straight Talk AT&T data speeds, my PHONE hit 20 mbps download while in rural Maryland. In that same spot, my Straight Talk Verizon phone did not have service as the Verizon pre-pay network did not cover western Maryland.

Have had the Straight Talk U240C hot spot for several months that uses the Verizon/Sprint network and have been very pleased. This morning was the first time I had to use customer service the whole experience was done in less than 5 minutes.

I got mine in today. It is a gsm 289l and canot be used in my area code, not what the order line said. Will be sending back.

I got mine today and it is a 289L, GSM which means it will probably be ATT. I was hoping for a CDMA version(which was advertised) so it would be Verizon. I have an ATT Net10 phone and have been very happy with that and wanted Verizon so I had 2 different carriers. Oh well, that's the breaks.

Does anyone know if the 288 Verizon (CDMA) version operates on the full Verizon network or the Verizon pre-paid network? There is a HUGE difference in coverage!

My Straight Talk Verizon CDMA phone was on their pre-pay network which was very limited.

I did go ahead and activated my straight talk zte z289l that was on the walmart $49.98 special with 1 gig bonus card. In my zip code it is on Verizon. My ookla speed was 6.9 download and 1.1 upload. Will do more test tomorrow. I donot know how to verify this unless AT&T just put in new service.

The new 4G hotspots was in my local Walmart today. When I try to order one via the website they say they are not available for my area.

No - I have a 3G model already. It is fast enough WHEN I get a good connection. If a good deal came along I may get one then, but they was $99.

Got $49 289l and it can't be activated online or with human intervention. Was told "it was scanned wrong"
