Streaming Video

Can some one technical explain the process of
"Streaming video"?

We have Amazon free videos, and am wondering if we can stream those into the laptop and store for on-the-road, then watch on larger TV screen?

Although it might mean only that we can watch Amazon but not copy.

If so, if we buy a video streaming service, can we record for later viewing on a laptop and then watch it on a TV with larger screen?

Thanks - a simple answer is fine, just basic yes or no, rather than entire tech answer, which we will probably not understand.
  • I am mainly thinking of times when I don't have a connection (aka no internet, boon-docking) and watching something. Someone said Red Box, but that and other DVD services need a return overnight or take another fee. So I was wondering if we can copy/download from the home TV to load into Laptop and then play later.

Streaming came to mind as a movie, with no commercials. We don't mind paying for a service, but not commercial TV copies ( too old) .... just movies with NO breaks.

    Looks like that's a No-workie :) thanks y'all for the info... M44
