I use Streets and Trips (assuming that's what you mean) and it does a good job but I would not consider it easy to use. It's going to take you a good deal of time to get acquainted with the various options. You will need to learn what a POI is, find the POI files that you are interested in and learn how to install and use them.
The basic navigation (directions from Salem, OR to Bend, OR) is very simple but if you want to take advantage of the numerous other things available there is a pretty steep learning curve.
It can also be used as a GPS if you add an external GPS antenna and you have room for the computer (or tablet) to sit on your dash or side board. I plan with S&T sometimes but I use a Garmin to actually get me there.
