I was wrong--the very latest satellite technology offers "customers typically experience latency under 700 ms (and often under 600 ms) which is significantly lower than competitors who have latency as high as 900-1,500 ms".
VSAT Systems offers this.
I think I got the 145 from the new LEO satellites which were launched this summer--but they will not be operational until late 2013. There are also only four "birds" and they need a baker's dozen.
None of this will help while trundling down the road--no one makes the technology for the time being.
