Swapping out the tv is a good time to check all of your connections from the antenna to the back of the tv. Unscrew all of the external coax connections and check for corrosion and take any corrective action. Check the cable for deterioration and lastly lubricate the antenna workings so it works better and to prevent leaks. A great many antennas have been replaced when rust was the issue I suspect.
And while I agree the Batwing is the better antenna in wooded areas OTA tv can still be disappointing.
