T Mobile coverage

Considering change from ATT cell service to T Mobile. Would appreciate your experiences with either. I am mostly concerned with coverage. Was on Sprint before and all too often I had problems hence the change to ATT. I want to keep good coverage

In my working years we had to do a whole lot of getting way out in the sticks working for Navel Electronics projects...

Only VERIZON would keep us going back then... It seems from listening to alot of folks now that AT&T and T-mobile are getting to more areas of late...

I have stuck with VERIZON all these years but really pay for it... I too need to change and probably will in the not to distance future... Verizon bill is right at $300 a month for the three of us living at home... $60 of that is what I call fines for not giving up my grandfathered things... WALMART no contract things looking pretty good to me and they use the VERIZON network...

  • In general, AT&T has way better coverage in rural areas than T-Mo. Even in urban areas you will find far more towers and better density with AT&T, so there is better signal strength and data speed.

Again, keep in mind this is general but based on both coverage maps and experience. Even AT&T has some weak coverage areas in places you would least expect it.
  • We tested T-Mobile for a couple of months, but gave it up when we kept losing reliable signals whenever we got more than a few miles from major cities and highways. We've found Verizon serves us the best in the most places, and AT&T is running a close second. We have a Maximum Signal MaxAmp RV cell booster/repeater on board, and while it does perform miracles at times in getting usable signals for us, even that couldn't always help with T-Mobile. Our previous WeBoost 4G-M was even worse in those conditions. They can't boost what isn't there.

OH Verizon.. They have long claimed and delivered the best coverage area, However more recently AT&T and T-mobile have both improved coverage areas.. now I do not know if this is still in effect but last time I was in the proper area my T-Mobile phones became AT&T, at least for voice. (Do not recall if I had data).

Verizon however is a conglomeration of several older companies including General Telephone and Electronics (GTE or Generally Terrible Electronics as I call them).

My parents had GTE telephone service.. they impressed me as the WORST customer service of any company I had ever dealt with at the time (I've since dealt with worse) but.. When the installer came to my parent's house he could not figure out where they wanted the MOUNTED phone (Big 1-2" high letters PHONE HERE in magic marker on the wall) Next one brought the wrong phone, final one installed the phones but.... On that system the ringers and phones are not one piece but 2, He put all the bells in the basement.. I had to move one set upstairs.

And that is just one of several stories.. I had to offer to call the public service commission to get 'em to fix a problem once.. and I'm not the only one.

Well they also do 2-way Satellite Interenet.. I pulled into a campground (Thousand Trails Las Vegas) and noticed the hardware lying on the ground next to the maintenance barn. Manager said "They are coming Friday to install" Friday came and went, came and went, I went, To Quartsite, via a stop in Palmdale, CA
One week in Palmdale, 2 in QZ, one across the London Bridge and back to LV.. Friday came and went, Friday came and went again, and still as I pulled out headed back to Michigan,,, the hardware had not moved one inch.

No, I will never recommend Verizon.

I use T-Mobile but have not been "Mobile" in a while.. They recently (2015/6) upgraded service in many areas.. I can ALMOST use my phone where I'm currently "Stuck" on their towers (works on Wi-Fi... When it feels like it).

HOWEVER: Where I'm stuck the park Wi-Fi is great.

now, normally in the winter I spend my time between 3 campgrounds
One has decent Wi-Fi (not great but I can often stream a video late at night, well one hour a week plus one hour a month) The other two Fantastic T-mobile coverage (Yippie)
Summers it's not so good.. but I'm hoping the improvements will make it better.

I park EAST of the Mississippi however most of the time (planing on changing that either this year or next).

With luck this time next week I'll be "parked" where the Wi-Fi I have yet to netotatite but the T-mobile works (at least it did when I visited the shop).
  • How about VERIZON? They seem to have the most (national) coverage. In my travels, I lost coverage (was aware of losing coverage) only in about 5 miles of I-8 and in Lake Havesau (sp?) There, I was told was "Sprint Country". So we just turned our phones off for 2 days. No problem.
  • T MOBILE great in East.In Texas Big stretches of I10 outside populated areas have no service mostly in the western part of the state. In Arizona T mobile has good service in populated areas but not so good in rural area.
    I am a current T MOBILE user
  • Look at cricket, it is AT&T but less money. We have 5 lines, 3gb per line for $100 including all taxes. If we need more we can bump up to unlimited or any inbetween plan that fits. Also covers Canada and Mexico.

    Cricket Wireless

Tmobile does well in cities but tends to lag greatly behind when you leave the cities. You'll find huge sections where you'll only see edge or nothing once you get out of the busy areas.
