What recommendations?. Wife has a Kindle Fire but have not used it and not sure if it is what I need. Don't need a large screen but something 8-10"?
a tablet will do everything you want to do minus the keyboard. something like the Microsoft Surface will give you a tablet and a small laptop in one device. unless something has changed the Kindle and similar e-readers are great for reading but not much else.
