I'm in the market for a convertible tablet or in the case of the iPad, an iPad with a keyboard. What I'd like is a NICE screen about as big as my Macbook Air 11, and keyboard and trackpad about as good too. But detachable and touch screen. This is for RV-ing. Portability and super light weight are not high priorities. Battery life is only medium priority. Highest priority is screen quality, touchpad and touchscreen that work smoothly, browser user experience, ease of typing. I'm agnostic about OSes. Meaning I'm willing to try Chrome or Android. I'd put Windows at the lowest on my list. I am okay with the cloud requirements of some options.Budget, let's say up to $700.

If you are already used to a MacBook Air, an iPad model of your choosing matched with the Apple Bluetooth keyboard for $69 is a great choice. I really love the keyboard, and it would be a great addition for camping.

I originally used the DELL M90 LAPTOPS Workstations which has the DOCKING STATION connectors on the bottom of them. My OFF-ROAD POPUP camping has a place to plug in my M90 and this then is connected to the Dual monitors, Keyboard, Mouse, Speakers, and additional ham radio interface items. This was neat as you you just pull the laptop from the home setup and snap it into place in the POPUP TRAILER - no additional cables/wiring needed.This worked great until my M90's had to be stopped from being used when the XP support ended a couple years back. My newer DELL LAPTOPs don't support this type of docking stations so now I have to plug in several cables now to get them to function like I used to have in my OFF-ROAD POPUP. I have been meaning to purchase one of those docking stations that runs from the high speed USB ports but haven't done it yet. This unit would eliminated most of the external connections for the DELL Laptops for me... My VERIZON MIFI setup in my OFF-ROAD trailer supports up to five of our WIFI devices when on the road which is neat to have so everything almost looks like my setup at home...Running everything on the same LAPTOP has its benefits for sure...Roy Ken

I don't want to see the thread go sideways into OS debates, but I should mention my aversion to Windows is based on what I read here about W10 updating itself automatically. We will be on a Verizon data plan, and I can't have anything downloading big data outside of my control. Otherwise I'm okay with Windows.

This would work but I'd rather have a unit designed so the keyboard attaches and it all folds up and travels as a unified package. Plus I'm not sure the iPad screen is quite big enough. It's got to be close, though. If I had the iPad already, this would be something I'd try. My wife has one, but I have the Macbook Air.

Once you go Mac, you never go back.
We have never used auto updates on any of our Mac products. If there is an update, we wait till we get to a park that has good wi fi.
Don't believe their is any such thing as a " critical " update on ios.
Sounds like what you want is the ipad pro that is coming out in November.

I've used Mac OS, iOS, Android, and Windows. Yes, they have their ups and downs and I have relative rankings in my own mind for them all. I find that for basic internet computing, the OSes are all pretty good these days. However, I have not used Chrome as an OS. For this computer question, I'm more interested in the hardware side of things. I am looking for the things mentioned in the opening post. Thanks!

And have not found one
Some with folding cases and USB or Bluetooth keyboard
None with attached included keyboard with mouse/touch pad
But Windows pc's from $400 up, have brand name model choices with these features from 11" up to 14"

If you drop the hard attached keyboard with touch pad
There are lots of good android tablets, and cases with USB OR blue tooth keyboards
