You haven't said the reason why you want to move away from a laptop to a tablet.
When I was looking to replace my old laptop almost a year ago, I looked closely at the tablets as a potential replacement and got a new laptop after seeing the tablets limitations. Like you, I need to run certain Windows and other PC programs that run best on a PC and not on a tablet. I also prefer to have my programs in my drive and not on a cloud where I have to pay a yearly fee to use the programs.
The wife has a Galaxy Tab 2 tablet that is great for web surfing, emails and other light duty work but it will never replace a computer.
