Haven't tried one of the attachments, but I can tell you that stability and vibration dampening will be important. I set my Tailgater in soft soil next to a lawn that was being mowed, and the vibration from the ride-on mower would disrupt the signal every time it approached (from the north).
I'm looking at making a clamp to put it on my roof. There's a rim around the base for attachment, in addition to the carry handle.
