Television confusion.

Just got my 2014 Fleetwood Storm 32H. It has a Magnadyne Linear series RV5055 multi-media reciever. This is supposed to allow you to watch DVD's, listen to CD's or radio throughout the coach. The problem I have is that I set up the TV to search through antenna stations it takes 10-20 minutes. But when I want a DVD I needed to search through cable to find a signal which is another 10 minutes. And the picture on DVD is not DVD quality. So I looked on the back of the TV and there are no component or HDMI connected cables. It just uses a gray wire probably from the switching box. Anyone know anything about this system. The manuals don't help and don't even show the rear of the receiver to determine if I can connect a component or HDMI.

that is the common method even on modern TV's
    for choosing a signal

If there is only one cable plugged into the back of the TV, there would be no sources to select.

just because there is only one cable
does not mean the TV, does not have a dvd menu selection, If it is a built in Dvd

if it is a stand alone dvd player,
then there should be a switch box, manual or automatic

  • Bill.Winegard I think that you are correct. I saw that the gray wire is attached to the coax input. It seems like the TV is treating the signal as another over the air signal and when I to a set up search it over writes the previous search. So now I get either antenna channels or DVD channel per set-up. If this works you can see my set up. I've never tried to post a picture before so here goes.

If this is the same unit, there is no HDMI and it lists only a Composite connection (optional game console) and a USB iPod connection. It appears the DVD is just inserted in a slot. If that's all correct you will never get high quality DVD. You can you see only one grey wire to the back of the TV. Where does this wire connect? To the Coax TV IN or some other port?
I assume you are actually doing a scan on the TV and that's a function of the TV which you can do nothing about other than replace it with a different brand. The secondary scan will likely then be necessary to find the DVD but you should have the option to do a scan for additional channels (or similar wording) as opposed to a new scan. This way you can turn to the DVD option and do the secondary scan and you would have both the locals and the DVD channels available. This only has to be done once at each location and you are good to go.
