Tell me why they won't interchange???
I have access to several sat dish's, both in Direct TV and Dish TV brands, that are of the oval design/same size etc. I like the Dish brand adjustments for tilt/angle and skew better than the Direc...

The Arm that holds the LNB and the dish must be "Mated" the backing plates however are interchangable.
The problem is I think the arm is attached to the backing plate
In that case. if the arm is EXACTLY the same length and angle and so on, AND the LNB heads fit, again you can interchange.
But the arms have to be identical.
YOU can buy dish, arm and LNB from some retailers in such a way as you home brew your own antenna, up to 8 satellites and yes dual band.
Best advice in this case:: Try it and see,, In your own yard, If it works, Let us know how it worked out)
