Other places can have cable or fiber come in from 4 directions, N,S,E and W. This contributes, in part, to more coming in from above.
This makes the most sense why it would not work as well in Florida being a peninsula. Today's storm which shut my access down was a wide storm band covering the entire north of Florida.
Btw: I have over the air TV reception and the same goes with that too. I know that's a tower but still the same, rain, no TV. And with my friends in Florida who have cable/satellite there TV reception goes out in the rain in a heart beat also. They just accept it as it comes with the territory.
I miss Wisconsin. :C
