- fcooperExplorerIf you want to stay on the Verizon network, check out totalwireless.com. It runs on the verizon network, and we pay about $62 per month for two lines sharing 15GB of data. We have been very pleased with the service.
Fred - mr__edExplorerAnother vote here for Verizon. I've received consistently good results almost anywhere in the country. I'm using a simple flip phone. They even lowered my monthly rate when I was going to experiment with another carrier (Consumer Cellular). I'm totally satisfied.
- Bill_SatelliteExplorer III did not mean to imply that there was anything wrong with Verizon. We have been a customer for something like 15 years. T-Mobile is just substantially less expensive and the service has been comparable. All services are going to have weak points and voids but so far, I am saving a pile of money every month and my phone still rings!
Oh yeah, they were also offering a BOGO on the Samsung 9 which we wanted to upgrade from our Samsung 6's so that was a nice bonus. - Jim2007ExplorerWe have had Verizon, for 20 years. Mostly because of their good coverage. Have not used customer service much, but when we did we were satisfied with service...you do have to expect them to bug about upgrade. We do how to say know.
Jim2007 - TomG2ExplorerThe plans that run "on the Verizon network" do not always have the same coverage as Verizon customers get. Why? Because of roaming agreements with other carriers that are probably not included in the bargain carriers. Verizon is not "everywhere", but with roaming agreements, they appear to be. Straight Talk and others do not provide as much total coverage.
- Charlie_D_ExplorerHappy with wife's and my Tracfone. You can bring your own phone or buy one of theirs. Same phones that Tracfone offers are cheaper on Amazon. She texts a lot and one can buy text separately. Can also buy data by the Gig. Lot's of different plans. We turn the data access off when near wifi such as home or other places. Last month I spent $5.00 buying her extra 1,000 text plan and service days continue to roll over. Straight Talk has a better plan that friends use that is unlimited talk/text and data for I believe $55.00/month. We are on the Verizon towers and have not found any areas where we lost signal except in areas known to have no signal such as Big Bend.
If you want to stay on Verizon and getting a new phone be sure it has the GSMA format. - HeisenbergExplorerRed Pocket unlimited data, 5GB @ 4G LTE bring your own phone. If your phone will hotspot it could be a really great deal at $20 per month.
- Bill_SatelliteExplorer II5Gb for $20 is OK, but I full time and use well over 50Gb/month so I need a plan that will allow substantially more data.
- vermilyeExplorerFor those considering leaving Verizon, and want "Excellent" coverage, you might consider AT&T. I currently have unlimited data coverage on both networks.
Not much in the way of savings unless you were lucky enough to get in on the Mobley unlimited for $20.00 per month deal, but I've been traveling all over the US for the last 8 years, and while AT&T was a poor second to Verizon for most of that time, I have found them just about equal this year.
There are always going to be places where one or the other will have coverage while the other doesn't, but if you get away from the cities or major highways, both AT&T & Verizon are your only choice for reliable coverage. - crcrExplorer

We camp all over Arizona. I don't know about other areas, but in the Southwest and into CA, my wife's AT&T almost never has coverage outside of cities, while my Verizon has coverage almost without fail.
