- I have been using this thing for a couple of years now:
Buffalo Ministation
Mine is the 500gb version, and I have never even come close to filling it up. Of course, I also don't just keep recording stuff and never deleting it either. If you are one of those kind of people, it comes in a 1tb version as well.
I like it because:- It is small
- It is USB powered, hence no power cube to plug in
- It has never failed me
- Last but not least, it was inexpensive
- 4huskersExplorerThank you.

- AllegroDNomadI have used a 500gb WD Passport.
- jmckelvyExplorerI use a 1 TB Western Digital drive with an external power module. I tried a Passport but could not get it to work. I have a 211k.
- Dutch_12078Explorer III use a 1TB Western Digital "My Book AV DVR Expander" with my 211k. It's one of the Dish recommended drives.
- sfischerExplorerCan't speak for the 211z, but I believe my 211k advises to only use an external HD as a DVR which has an external power connection. No passing the power via USB. I am currently using a WD 750gb drive which I had sitting around for several years of previous use with my computer.
- AllegroDNomadSorry but I should have stated that mine is 211k.

Will this work using an iPhone or iPad charging cube with the USB connection?
Will it work on the home satellite/receiver to record programs/movies then taken to the RV for playback?
