Thunderbird - junk filter
I have specified criteria in the "message filters" to determine that specific *from* sender's names be classified as junk and immediately moved to the junk folder. This works great and saves the time...

Thanks, I've never come across the term whitelisting email addresses. I'm just dealing with one email address and I think I got it fixed now.
The instructions in the link did not get it to work. However I got to thinking about my message filter in Thunderbird and realized I could send a filtered message anywhere I want. So I redirected it back to my Inbox and it appears to work fine now.
I found other links suggesting doing it the way your link said, and I'm still curious why that won't work. I'll check it out further.
