80K miles with TST TPMS, several alerts with 2 catastrophic failures. No notification of failure and significant damage. (Tread separated with no loss of pressure) The other failure was a tread separation and blowout with instant notification.
Was that your Maxxis tires that failed?
After having a TST TPMS, I believe that it is best to install a repeater regardless how it currently performs. I use one and all the errors and disconnects just went away.
They were Westlakes I believe, purchased late on a Saturday in TX several years back. I needed them due to an axle alignment issue skinning off the rear set. Both failed in VA a year later within 200 miles.
The Maxxis tires did fail with the steel belts rupturing and causing sidewall to tread leakage the 3 failures all occurred within a 1000 mile stretch, with sufficient TPMS warning, the 4th was replaced as a matter of course.
