towing mirrors

Back in June I wrote about some towing mirrors I purchased from Camping World in Anthony Texas. They are the rubber strap on type. After one use I noticed a discoloration on my painted mirrors where the straps went. I tried buffing them out without any success. I took it to a body shop and was told that they had to be painted. I have a 2012 Traverse with the expensive 3 stage paint that cost $800.00 extra at the factory when I purchased the vehicle. Your response team answered quickly and said they would try and resolve the matter as quickly as possible. I even sent them pictures of the mirrors. Here it is September and I guess I won't be getting any assistance from Camping World. I see you have the same mirrors available in your catalog. Beware if you have painted mirrors. Do not buy these mirrors as they will ruin your paint on your mirrors. Just a tip. I guess you get what you pay for.

  • When I have luggage straps that will rub the paint on my motorcycle, I cover the paint first with clear shelf liner. I picked it up at Walmart. So far, over thousands of miles, the straps haven't marked the paint. For these mirrors, I'd probably double layer it.

I HAVE NOT TRIED IT FOR MIRRORS, but since I do use that type of mirror, I probably will after reading your post.
  • jamestyner,

Thank you for your time and post. I apologize it was my understanding this matter had been taken care of. Please allow me to escalate this matter again to our executive team.

  • I like the Cipa strap on mirrors myself. But, you expect anything that comes on contact with paint to possible rub on it.
