TPMS - At what Temperature do I worry?
Bought a TireMinder TMG400C. Easily installed. We have a single axle popup, and the system has 4 sensors, so in addition to the popup tires I put sensors on the two TV rear tires. Took it on our first trip. My question is at what tire temperature do you need to be concerned? On our trip our highest reading was:
Tire Temp from TPMS sensor: 118 deg F
Tire sidewall temp: 145 deg F (measured with a digital thermometer, at a stop)
Roadway temp: 127 deg F (dig thermo)
Ambient Air Temp: 103 deg F (it's July in Texas!)
The popup tires are D Load range 13" ST's (1610 lbs at 65 psi). And I am religious about the tires being at 65 psi when cold (well "cold" is relative ... air temp was about 85-90 when we left the house and 11:15 AM). Any thoughts? Thanks! -Dave
