No, DTV didn't pay anyone to do anything. It worked for awhile and when it didn't that was the end of the story. Remember that DTV does not do anything or provide anything to support mobile satellite TV. The dome was not created by DTV but rather by the RV industry. The same holds true for the adapters. DTV did not know of them, care about them, support them or anything else.
The satellite TV providers provide satellite signal to what is assumed to be a fixed antenna mounted at a fixed location and pointed toward the satellites 24/7. Any other option for receiving that signal requires the support of the company who produced the antenna or your own knowledge on how to make it all work.
