Have you gotten your file problem resolved?
You have not responded to your post.
Yes, solved the problem:
As it turns out, apparently the new MSWord 2013 temp must convert to it from other Word programs if no other word program is active.
SO, as I had test opened these files first, before installing '07 Word, it converted them.
Later, I installed 07 MSWord, then transferred other word files, which then loaded on the HD as the original. So now, all the word files transfer as older versions and save that way, and live on the HD that way too.
So, if I buy 2013 Word, I'll re-save all in new program, but the old version works fine as best I can tell. In the future, I'll know to install programs first, THEN transfer data.
Interesting too, but probably makes sense: The photo files transferred easily, and open with anything. But I'm guessing that's due to .jpeg and .tiff programs build in a common file format, and not proprietary format like MSWord programs.
Once again, RV.net tech gurus come to the rescue -
BTW: I mentioned in another thread too - the continuous updating of some 'app tiles' in WDW8 wil drain your data usage if you leave them on when you have WDW8 ... so, I went through almost 50% of my dat allowance (5GB) in two days. Once I shut them off, then the data drain went back to my normal .10GB per day.
So, if anyone is on a pay per data' hotspot, it will kill your allotment in a few days, so anyone that buys a new PC or LT with WDW8, makes sure the first thing you do it shut off the data drain and then operative it yourself, and not auto-update.
Not sure if I should put this info in a separate thread? But it should be known as lots of RV'ers use hotspots ... and the bill will be enormous if you miss this factor on WDW8 ... any comments?
