tv booster

On our last trip we were getting poor reception on our cable. I disconnected from the cable outlet outside and hooked directly to the TV and had a great picture. I have checked the hook-up outside and at the booster and everything is tight. Is there a way to test the booster to see if it has gone bad?

  • We have problems with our booster plate connected for the cable. Has nothing to do with whether booster switch is on or off.
Antenna connection works fine for air, but we unplugged the cable connection from the switch box, and attach the TV directly to the cable that runs out to the outside corner connection on our Casita (when we have available cable at site).

Seems like everyone likes to call this ANTENNA WALL PLATE PANEL "THE BOOSTER".

Althought WINEGUARD does indeed have a ANTENNA WALL PLATE with an actual RF PRE_AMPLIFIER (BOOSER) incuded on the panel all the ones I have ever seen installed in the RV's just includes a small controller ckt board, a three port transformer, a 12VDC cig lighter plug, a push button, a small LED light, and a "F" connector for the main TV. The PUSH BUTTON sends 12VDC up the ROOF MOUNTED RG Cable to operated the RF-PREAMPLIFIER (BOOSTER AMP) which is located inside the BATWING Antenna.

This is a typical ANTENNA WALL PLATE showing rear connections.

This is a typical wiring configurations showing the TV CABLE ROUTING.

As stated in the other comments here the PUSH BUTTON should be "OFF" (LED light out" when using the CABLE TV port connections.

    Just for clarification

  • The booster is when you are running off the "bat wing".. When on cable, turn it off as already said.. ;)

It creates signal overload and inference when connected to cable input
